Before long the Phoenix began to decelerate to sublight speeds. The
transistion was extremely smooth; indeed the only way of telling was the
logarithmic scale going down and the stars making a reappearance. I
eventually had the chance to look at the stars around me to see if I
recognised in the surrounding starfield. Not really spotting anything, I let the sensors tell me if there was a system within their range, which I had been told was 5 light years, but I found that difficult to believe. Sure enough, though, it came up with a system around 4.6 light-years from my current position. It appeared to be an orange-red giant, with several rocky planets situated in orbits that were 7.4 and 9.6 Astonomical Units (A.U.s)away.
