Death in the Tunnel

Astra and Fred look at the youth, unable to exactly understand what he had just said.

"So you're getting out?" said Fred somewhat noncomittally.

"I didna say dat!" said the boy.

"You are..." began Astra, "...as lost as a group of others who did get out?"

"Wha?" responded the youth. "Ha' you been smokin' some humptydumpty, missy-girl?"

Velus began to bark something fierce when all of a sudden the tunnel was filled with a brilliant white light. The three humans were blinded while the boy-cursed-dog ran away from the light. Sounds of a struggle could be heard and then silence, and then the light faded.

Fred and Talbot looked down at a very dead Princess. There was a dart sticking out of her flesh, below her breast, stuck up into her heart. A look of utter surprise was frozen on the dead woman's face.

"Yowza!" cried out the teen.

"You can say that again," said Fred.

"Bark! Bark!" said Velus as he returned.

1. Fred, Talbot, and Velus get very far from that spot as quickly as possible...
2. Meanwhile the light...
