Checkers decided that, since the left passage seemed to offer her best
chance of escape, she would have to risk whatever danger the skull and
crossbones was indicating. Keeping her hand on the hilt of her dagger, she
cautiously entered the passage.
As she drew closer to the light, it bacame clear - to her great disappointment - that it wasn't daylight. It had too much of an orange hue for that. Turning a corner, she found that the light was coming from a torch held in a bracket fixed to the wall. Either the wood had been treated with some substance or else magic was involved, for it burned very slowly and steadily. But it was not on the torch that she focused her attention, for chained to the opposite wall of the tunnel was a tall, beautiful yet athletically built, red-haired, naked young woman. If Checkers was astonished to see the woman, the woman seemed to be equally astonished to see her. "Are you a succubus?" she asked. "Certainly not!" Checkers said, feeling affronted. "I am a Glider.
