Day Two in the Jungle

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 33751

So, the following morning, over breakfast (more fruit), when Fred asked Astra how she had slept, she answered: "Not well. I had a bad dream, which woke me up. I couldn't get back to sleep again after that. Maybe this fruit is like cheese, and it isn't a good idea to eat it just before going to bed."

"Perhaps, though I slept well myself. Maybe you were just unlucky."

"Probably. But we could do with some variety in our diet. I hope that we will find some different foodstuffs today. A pool where we could bathe and remove the dirt and sweat would be nice, too."

They resumed walking. They had remembered to make a note of the positions of the trees around their sleeping place, so that they would start off in the same direction that they had been headed in the previous day. Whether they could keep on heading in the same direction was another matter, of course.

  1. Eventually, perhaps because of a change in the soil, the trees began to thin out a little, and shafts of sunlight began to come through. That meant that there was more undergrowth.
  2. They came to a stream.
  3. They heard a crack of thunder, and then it began to pour with rain. Even the thick canopy overhead couldn't prevent a lot of it filtering through.
