Fred, Astra, and Velus continued toward the northeast. If there was a break in the spit, then they would swim through. Otherwise, they would continue to explore, and rest for the evening when the sun was low in the sky. They found no break in the spit. It was just as well - a break would create a source of turbulence, and probably make their life more difficult. The clouds started to look like the mother-of-pearl inside an oyster, and the sun loomed large in the western sky. It was time to break for the day. There was ample food, with a good supply of little clams ready to be shelled and baked. The trio then lounged along the shore, resting after a strenous day. Fred watched as the sun dipped below the horizon, and the stars started to come out. Astra listened to the songs of the birds on the far shore. Velus explored the bottom of the lagoon lazily. One of them discovered something useful.
