Strange Fruit

"No, I'm afraid I have no idea what that is. It doesn't grow in the jungles of Aqualaria as far as I know."

The fruit in question looked a cross between a banana and a peach, if such a thing could be imagined. There was a number of relatively intact examples of the fruit and Fred picked one up. It looked like it had to be peeled like a banana, so Fred did so. The smell of the flesh was not pleasant, though not overpoweringly so. Still they had to risk it. Rather than resort to petty arguing over who was going to try it first, they both took a piece and ate it at the same time. The flesh was juicy, but not too sweet, and actually tasted quite nice.

They waited until they had digested the piece of fruit, but nothing untoward happened. The fruit was quite safe, though it would probably cause illness if too much was consumed at one time. Also, it being juicy, it helped to quench their thirst.

1. They carried on with their journey, taking some of the fruit with them.
