Where Might They End Up?

"Unfortunately yes," Astra agreed. "Luck plays a larger part in our lives than the both of us would probably care to admit."

There was a number of things they could be certain of. If they reached a mountain range, it could be the one separating Nom Malbra from the Jungles. Although, as Astra reminded Fred, there was also a mountain range that extended south from Lake Tol Nostra, the lake that made up the southwestern border of Aqualaria as well as part of the border of Ryngaerd. They could also arrive at the coast of the Tarel Ocean to the east. And the last possibility was the most frightening of all. They could enter the area simply known as the Undiscovered Country. They didn't want to dwell on that. Fred decided to be more optimistic. "How will we know if we've reached the Aqualarian border? Are there border posts?" Fred asked.

"Yes there is," Astra replied. "We have long ascertained there is no threat to our southern border, but old habits die hard."

Of course their greatest concern was food and water. While it was true they could last around three weeks without food, they could only survive a maximum of three days without water. Still, they couldn't just stay there, so

1. they chose a direction and hoped for the best.
