The Lagoon.

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 33254

Both were fully expecting to be still in the flooded tunnel, so were extremely dismayed to find themselves outside on an overcast night. There was no moon, so the only light available to them was Fred's torch. Fred slowly waved it around to get as a good a look at his surroundings as possible.

They appeared to be next to what after a bit of discovery a sandbank. There was hardly any sound, but if they strained their hearing enough, they faintly make out the sound of waves lapping against what that thought was a shore that had to be behind them.

"Now we don't have any idea where we are, let alone the Dragon," Astra said. "We'd better see if we can find somewhere to sleep." The sandbank might have been safe enough, but they were still used to being near the shore. Fred agreed, and they swam towards the distant shore. Astra was able to swim under the water, though Fred had it harder as he tried to keep the torch from going out.

It took Astra and Velus around nine minutes to reach the shore, with Fred arriving a few minutes later. The shore was a beach consisting of really fine sand.

With Velus left splashing about nearby, Astra and Fred did their best to see if they could find some driftwood. They could use this to make a fire, which Fred could light with his torch. He was still encumbered with his pack and sword, so Fred was unable to do much. It more-or-less was up to Astra to find and collect some.

Eventually she gathered what she considered was enough, and they spent a few minutes deciding the best spot where it wouldn't be that far from them, but would not be affected by the tide. Having lit the fire, the pair made the best of it as they could, making sure there was no chance that their fish half could dry out, which they thought would be extremely painful.

Early the next morning they woke up with the sun bright in their eyes. The sky had cleared during the night. Looking around, they could work out they were in a lagoon. Both tried to work out where they knew of such lagoons. They knew they should know, but there appeared to be a mental block, as if the Dragon didn't want them to know. The beach was composed of white sand. There were high dunes, behind which palm trees could be seen. Looking out to sea, they could faintly make out what they decided was the sandbank that surrounded the lagoon.

  1. The trio investigate further.
