A flash of light suddenly show between Fred and his three would-be chefs.
"That's enough!" a woman's voice exclaimed. "I have a separate purpose for him!" The three spectres, which had been so bold and strong, suddenly turned at sight of this stark-white woman. They fled into the darkness. "Be loosed!' she exclaimed. His bonds all fell away. "Who are you?" he asked. "I am Wind," she told him. "And I am a close sister to Storm, and so the cold spectres fear me, for they have the power of winter, and death; and I have the power of spring, and the renewal of life. But I sweep clear every obstruction. Come with me." "Whatever you say!" he exclaimed.
