Imprisoned in a Tower

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 32870

How had I been brought here? When I had been struck down, I had been below ground, in the dragon's main chamber. Now I was high in a tower above ground. The blood still dripping down my face from a gash on my head told me that I had been felled at most a matter of minutes ago. But of course, the dragon was a mighty mage. It was quite within his power to transport me here. The only slight surprise was that I was still alive and hadn't been transformed into something unpleasant. I wondered what had happened to Fred, but of course I had no way of knowing.

I examined the room that I was in more thoroughly. It was circular, about twenty feet in diameter. The walls and floor were made of blocks of granite, and the wind blew in through a barred unglazed window through which I could see the plain far below. No wonder I felt cold. The ceiling was well above my head. The only possible means of exit was by a double door, which looked very sturdy and which I assumed would be locked from the outside.

  1. The room was totally devoid of any furnishings.
  2. The room was furnished simply, with a bed, a table, a wooden chair and a chamber pot. A mat was on the floor. On the table was a pitcher of water and a plate of bread and cheese.
  3. The room was furnished luxuriously. There was even a wardrobe, full of clothes. Not that any of them were what I would have chosen to wear in preference to my soldier's garb.
