Inconstant Moon

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 31256

"Look!" Fred said suddenly, pointing. Though it was still an hour or two before sunset, the almost full moon was clearly visible rising above the horizon ahead of them.

"It's the moon," Astra said. "What of it?"

"I know that the night before I entered the caves, there was no sign of the moon from sunset to sunrise, though the sky was clear. So the moon must have been new. That can't possibly have been more than two days ago at the very most. There's no way that the moon can now be almost full."

"Perhaps I have not been flung into your world after all," Astra suggested, "but you into mine. The moon was full when you - or rather that other you - and I were in the desert, the night that we came to Vincent's tower. [931] That can only have been two days or so ago, so it seems to fit."

Naturally enough, this cheered Astra. Equally as naturally, it worried Fred. If what Astra had said was correct, how could he have been flung into her world?

  1. Fred and Astra discussed further.
  2. Almost immediately, it was Astra's turn to spot something odd.
