As Luck Would Have It...

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 31225

Fertal 3

Maybe with a LOT of luck, after info is gotten, they could get the horses back after all this. Maybe the hunters hadn't thought to kill them to slow us down) . . . .

But as it stands, all this overly large elf wants to do is pout and sulk, giving even the most basic of answers with the most reluctence. Now, we could perhaps use torture to make her more cooperative (somehow I get the feeling she'd not expect that and so wouldn't be prepared for such tatics). However, coming into our rightful forms does NOT mean such evil means would be used. Too much of the . . . knight and warrior still remains with us all. Elf' or not does not allow such actions.

However, our pouting prisoner has answered enough to let us know this: a powerful mage (their master) had sent them forth to slay me and my brother. Me, my elfin brother AND anyone who stood in their way!

That and a few OTHER things we get off of our prisoner that are pretty . . . damning. See, there is this . . . stench of what my elfin senses detect that I can only describe as dark, evil magic. Whatever the master is, he's a mage. Perhaps the VERY mage we have been tasked. Well, the mage my brother and his love, Artizza 4, have been tasked to slay in order to save this foreign world! Frankly, I myself and "my" Artizza hadn't been tasked, but we had come to the conclusion that we'd better help. It was the right and noble thing to do AND also was (we figure) the only way we can save ourselves as well from the Hell crew!

....

Er, right. Back to the task at hand.

We also smell the first tell tale hints of what our dark clad elfin giant has in store for us if we should be so unfortunate as to be captured and slain by these hunters! There are only a few stray spots of on her (must have been very fussy in her dietary habbits, our monster here), but enough. Then there is the sent of human blood on her breath!

I almost want to use the blade of my weapon instead of it's hilt, so disgusted am I at this . . . creature before me! Cannibal. She's a bloody cannibal on top of being a murderer! We should just kill her, here and now, I say to myself as her eyes go wide in shock right before they roll back into her head and she falls unconsious.

However, elf or not, I and my brother are still D'Honaires. We live in honor or we don't live at all! Since my elfin heart has chosen my Artizza (and my brother has chosen his) we both know that our wives to be (if God is kind) live by the same code.

Killing a prisoner in cold blood like that would be, I say, dishonorable.

But I would have been . . .happy if I had miscalculated the blow. As it stands, she still breaths and therefore I succeeded in only knocking her out, more the pity!

We strip her of her clothing and gear, tieing her up to a tree as a warning to the others (which we know they'll not listen to but we must try).

After we sneak out of the area of where we know the hunters lay in wait, we elves have much to discuss. Things like just what to do next!

Meanwhile....

So while Fertal 3 & 4 and Artizza 3 & 4 leave the area, having failed to extract one important piece of information that might color their next decision and Dreamwalker dreams a small, satified dream that at least a small piece of pride can be kept and she hadn't given the mini-elves the satifaction of letting them know she'd been rattled by them.

Ah, but you have a blank look? Well, Dreamwalker's pride had been hurt by not only having been delayed by Artizza's group but with the added (mistaken) impression of having been outdone and captured by that same group of heroes. Yes, in other words she is taking pride in not blurting out something that would have shown her shock at having been (in her mistaken impression) captured by the mini- elves (her term) just soon after having parted company . . . .

Of course, that ommission doesn't clue Artizza 4's group that more "analogs" are looking for them . . .

Bur right now, let us go back to Jarlath's group.

You know. The one consisting of not only Jarlath, but Astra 9, Annafrid, Artizza, Artizza 2, Fertal, Fertal 2, and the Light Elves (Lueoth & Ia'adoire)!

  1. The Light Elves are staring at the centauress vendor who's selling her wares. . . .
