Fred was tired by the long day he looked carefully at the "chain." It
looked more like a yo-yo that a concerned family member had sent him, but
it held him tight to his sheets. He looked up and down the long row of
beds in the room. Sleep started to overcome him as he tugged on his
jamies' and looked at the others preparing for beddie-bye time in the same
long room. Fred awoke with a start. The darkness terrified him. Shadows danced upon the walls where light crept in through the windows. He knew where she slept, and would have to find her there. He grabbed his dark cape and hood from under the bed where he kept them, and slipped them on. Then he slid down the darkened row of beds to one marked "Phillip Rollins," and nugged the body there. "Avalanche, Avalanche," he whispered shaking the body gently. "Captain Grayskull, you didn't chain yourself up." "No, we have work to finish." Avalanche put on his bright orange hunting cap and oversized orange mittens and followed Greyskull. When they came to the security door, Greyskull stood aside. He peered through the darkened glass at the nurses at the station joking with one another. They paid no attention to the televisions in front of them. Avalanche worked quickly with the wires to the alarm as he had done so many times before. People called him "autistic," but Greyskull just knew he was good. In little time, Greyskull and Avalanche were on the other side of the security barrier. The nurse's station lay before them. The blood in Greyskull's viens boiled. This was the culmination of his dreams. That nurse Astra would surely die tonight, and with her, so would Fred. He would win the battle for the body.
