At that very moment, what may possibly have been the most important conversation in the history of man was rudely interrupted as the building shook with a jarring impact. Looking out the window, Fred would have had a hard time failing to notice an enormous, extremely ancient dragon leaning against a side wall it apparently had walked straight into as it came down the street. (When you think about it, it's pretty hard for something as big as a dragon to "walk into" a room in the sense of entering through the door. Or the wall for that matter.)
"Good evening, Sir," Bruce said unperturbed. "The usual?" The dragon just grunted, and Bruce walked over to the back room door and asked Fred to give him a hand. Together they wheeled a barrel of beer over to the front door and out on the sidewalk, where the dragon plucked a drain pipe off the side of the building and inserted it into the barrel to use as a drinking straw. As the once mighty creature started drinking, Fred stood watching curiously. It dawned upon him that this must be the same dragon he had once set out to slay, but while he had been warped through time, the dragon must have slowly and meticulously lived through all those years. How long had it been? The dragon was beyond old, beyond ancient. Civilisations could have risen and fallen in the time that primeval creature appeared to have been waiting for his return, or whatever it had been doing.
