The Never Ending Quest - Episode 30656

Two pairs of inky black eyes blink at their rescuers as they "snap out of it" . . .

Now, we could go into a long and overdrawn recapping of events coming to this point, but we shan't have that. Having already posted that elsewhere (and provided links there), it would be rather pointless. So, instead we shall just encapsulate the fallout, okay?

After the obvious hesitation (and everything else) things get a little interesting. Jarlath's group wants to find Fertal 4's and Artizza 4's group because (amongst other things) that was Artizza 2's and Fertal 2's Validation Quest. That and they did NOT want their elfin brothers to get back in Hell's clutches. Originally what they had to do was track them down and snap them out of the trance they were in by merely touching them. The spell they were under (Fertal and Artizza 3) not only had them acting out an old fairy tale, but it also had been throwing off easy detection from either Jarlath's spells OR the elfin senses of the other proto-Dark Elves. See, unbeknownst to Jarlath's group, Artizza 4 and Fertal 4 awoken them in an innocent mistake in awakening the sleepwalkers. Mistakenly believing that their rescuers were the ones who their fates lay within, Artizza 3 and Fertal 3 throw in with their rescuers in their Quest to stop one Dark Mage from creating a Gate to a Dark Realm. The mage had this stupid idea that the demonic beings on the other side would be able to be controlled by him, and thus useful in taking over the world. Not exactly a totally lame idea, given the total chaos this world has upon it now. Not enough forces could be mustered (not enough organized forces) to oppose such an invading dark army. Bad, but even if the mage cannot control what he unleashed the world would still take a thrashing from the things that poured forth from this Gate (the means of construction provided to this mage, one Angar, in exchange for his soul to the forces of Hell). All that Fertal 4’s group needs to do is get by all the Vikings (still loyal to Angar) and other dark monsters between them and kill Angar. Heh. More like sneak by them all with their Dark Elf skills and . . . .kill Angar.

And in pursuit of them will be Jarlath’s group . . . . Having to deal with rather hostile and paranoid Aylsian folks, who’ll find their entire world thrown into disarray by the reworking of their world into a round world. Trade routes shattered. Mineral resources and mines thrown hither and yon by the rearrangement of the flat world onto a sphere (mixed in with other spots of land from other realities via the slipgate incident back so long ago on Terra Prime).

Ah Chaos . . . . Yes, Aylse is something of a Wonderland right now because you've got to WONDER what will happen next....

Point in fact, pretty soon a halfway stressed out native wit, having read a certain children's story from "Core Earth" with rabbits and a certain young girl in it will have found it taking on a life of it's own. Aylse soon becomes known, much to the chagrin of some, as "Alyse"!

AND to make it even more interesting, we have a bunch of "independents" who’ll be still hunting down their query, and because of the signals that the various Fertals give off (so similar to that twit named Fred) . . . .

It’s a game of tag, mixed in with hide and seek. We shall be shuttling back and forth between the various groups, watching what they do and such. THOSE are the basics of what is going on here.

But how about right now we go back on how things are going with Artizza 3 and Fertal 3, who (after Artizza 3 had cut her hair down to something more manageable) climbed back down to the base of the tower.

They have hundreds of miles to go yet and yet to change into more practical clothing, but both Fertal 4 and Artizza 4 must wait and smile as they witness what has happened between them play itself out again between Fertal 3 and Artizza 3. The scene of souls meeting as one looks into the eyes of the other . . .

  1. So, soon we soon find our would be adventurers at the edge of a village on edge, wondering if they can get some horses and other stuff to make their journey a bit easier...
