Josh and Paulito were locked into heavier chains and strapped down to two wooden tables set a foot and a half apart. Flickering torchlight revealed strange, metallic things and a rocky ceiling.
Hooden figures that moved in odd, jerky ways set metal caps on their faces.
Josh experienced a brief flash of pain in his feet before blacking out.
He woke up when the brainwashing was done.

  4. He now thought he was Paulito.

  6. He was willing to mine for gold with the only compensation being bread and water.
  7. He now wished to murder the king and kidnap his daughter.
