Fred then wondered where Velus was.

  1. Velus had been sleeping at Astra's feet. The wizard's robe had covered him.
  2. Where WAS the little bugger?
  3. Velus exploded.
  4. Fred heard a bark from outside. Velus the dog was now as big as a horse. The wizard had failed in returning him to human.
  5. Velus had been a shared, retroactive delusion. (The insanity spell had, obviously, affected Fred also).
