Instead of chasing dragons and witches, Lady Andrea found herself
confounded by two small boys. "Well, that may be," she told the
boys, "but for now it is mine, and if you press me, your heads will be
too." They laughed and sat upon the logs that replaced her horses and
watched her like vultures. "She's nobility," one told the other. Lady Andrea returned to the carriage and checked its status. There was a large trunk in the back that held her precious clothing. Other than that, she had a couple bags of gold in the rider's compartment and a bag of jewels she had brought along to sell in case of an emergency. None of it seemed worth anything now. Worse, she was still clad in the dress she had worn the day before rather than the masculine boots and pantolonas she had in the trunk. This was a terrible adventure. She stashed the gold and jewels in her garment and tried to think of how to get out. By and by a woodsman came through the forest with his work horse. He lived nearby and was chopping timber in this area for resale to the locals. When he saw the lovely maiden in distress, he thought she might pay him a copper or two to take her someplace. When he came nearer and saw how well dressed she was, he thought maybe she would give him a silver or three, or even a gold soveriegn.
