Fred shoots out of the tube like a cannon ball and cracks his skull against the stone floor.

THWACK! Yes, that's rigth. The sound of Fred's head smacking a stone floor at high speeds is THWACK!

As Fred lies there unconcious on the floor, he takes a trip through his subconcious. In the subconciousness of his dreams he sees the kids who gave him wedgies in school. The kids hadn't aged!

.....

And then a Thirty-foot tall Hoobilgloobinstoofer showed up and ate the kids.

.....

And then Fred woke up.

Holy stupid dreams, says Fred. I wonder what made me think of something like that? I am a knight, after all, and as a knight I am a member of the aristocracy. Even in my childhood, no one would dare lay a finger on me with the intent to humiliate me. My father would have had them boiled in oil. Oh yes he would!

Having resolved the silly implausibility of the choice Fred was forced to make, he now takes a measure of his bearings to get a feel for his location.

Fred is in a damp, dark chamber. By feeling and kicking around, Fred is able to find his sword, but not much else. After feeling entirely around the room, he finds something that feels like a doorway. What direction it goes, Fred cannot tell. He also feels the cold flesh of what must be a body on the floor.

There is nothing else in the room and no othe way out.
