The Tale of Belboz and the Dragon's Toy, Part Three

A year passed. The villagers and I, enslaved under the dragon, had made quite a bit of progress on digging out the Dragon’s network of caves… indeed the very caves you stand in today!

However, due to bad planning, there were actually two teams of villagers working on the entrance to the cave, each unaware of the other (despite the fact that the entrances were only a few feet apart). Eventually, the Dragon noticed this discrepancy and demanded that we stop work immediately on the redundant entrance to the right.

That’s when it struck me…while the Dragon had the villagers digging out his cave from the left entrance, I would summon up my own undead workers and have them dig out the right entrance! By doing this, I was creating my own cave, separate from the Dragon’s but connected in several key places.

It was the perfect situation. I was able to come and go from the Dragon’s caves as I please, completely unbeknownst to him. It was an excellent arrangement, and it allowed me to grow more powerful than I had ever dreamed.

Several years passed. Both the Dragon’s cave and my own expanded to unfathomable size. One fine day I had slipped into the Dragon’s network in order to pick some mushrooms. Little did I know it at the time, but that day would change me forever. It all started when I encountered…

1. …a previously undiscovered chamber of the Dragon’s.
2. …a daring adventurer, not entirely unlike yourself.
