As the orb of light floated toward Fred, he suddenly felt himself being sucked into a vortex of teleportational
energy. It was a strange experience - like being sliced, albeit painlessly, by microscopic knives that cut Fred
into horizontal planes mere cell-lengths wide, and then being transferred somewhere else, plane by plane.
However, Fred was now strapped to a cold metal table with a light shining directly into his face. "Where am I?" Fred asked. His voice echoed, implying he was in a rather large chamber. "You are in Meteora." said a deep, rasping voice. "You are safe here." Fred still couldn't see anything except the blinding light. He shut his eyes. "Then why am I tied down?" "We need the knowledge within your brain." said the voice. "He has been there! He knows!" said another, more youthful voice. "What do you mean?!" Fred said. "Where have I been? What do I know?!" "Do not feign ignorance. You have been to the Green Room. You know what the Gilrog are plotting." "Those bastards!" yammered an annoying third voice. "As if their own slack were not enough - must they take ours?" "But that's the thing, I never found the green room!" Fred said. "I only found a room full of stuff floating around, and then an orb of light brought me here." There erupted an excited chatter of hundreds of voices, all around Fred, most repeating "Gilrog", "Slack", and "He lies!". Fred began to sweat. "Silence!" the first voice commanded, and the chamber immediately fell silent. "Stranger, we should have known you are in league with the damnable Gilrog. If your loyalty to them - and to that cur Kleptocritus - is stronger than your sense of self-preservation, then we have no choice but to begin the Extrication." "What?!" Fred exclaimed. "But I know nothing!" "Too late!" roared the voice. "Assistant, bring me my Brainer Needle and Royal Hacksaw!" Fred didn't like the sound of that. He decided to...
