Tom hadn't been the best officer there was during Academy training but he
had paid attention during Anamoly Class. With so much that had happened to
Captain Archer, Pike, Kirk and especially Captain Tomasai, all cadets went
through Reality Alter training. Paris definitely wasn't going to enter a stupid CAVE today. Especially after what happened to Hogan in front of the cave on that last planet. And what had almost happened to Endry and pretty much everyone else that had wandered too close to the caves. Tom circled the caves and got a good vantage point on a tree-less ridge. He had his phaser, his tricorder and due to almost being later for his shift because Neelix, a set of silverware. How did that happen? Crazy Talaxian can distract anyone but best not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Ponder that later. To the North he saw a river. (That is, if North actually applied here). South, what might have been a village. East, definitely a village. And West, horse-riders.
