Now, children, take a lesson from me. Never, ever, beg a wish from a wish
granting coconut. The reason a coconut has its name is because it is so
close to coocoo. And that's what that big brown nut is--a coo coo nut.
It's a little crazy. This one was no different. It took about five or
six minutes, but Fred disappeared. Unfortunately, the coconut did not
know where "home" was for for Fred or Velus. It knew that they couldn't
be from the same place, so put Velus one hundred miles north and Fred one
hundred miles south, more or less. Velus found himself at sea, learning
to dog paddle, and Fred found himself up to his neck in dirt. Fortunately
the elevation wasn't higher, or he would have found himself six feet
under. Actually, the coconut had actually got them mixed up, but we'll
keep that between you and me. The coconut correctly guessed that Alfred was old and so made him young--or most of him. His top half was around fifty, and his lower half had barely hit purberty. Soon after seeing her friend vanish, Astra felt a tremendous pain. The coconut knew "passion" meant suffering, so Astra was in love, but it hurt very badly. It is a good thing that Alfred didn't wish for madly in love, or Astra would have become--you guessed it--a coconut.
