Overlooking Elves...

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 27315

From the group of Champions, one answered Belboz's warning.

And by the tone in her voice, that particular Champion sounds a bit annoyed!

Ah yes, she sounds annoyed.

Now, the Champions here have arrived via that faux TARDIS into this scene.

Now, for those who might be wondering about this taboo the Champions have interrupted (those who've been following the "Checkers" thread), they've arrived just after the events in 22590. Leading up to that, the story is told in 21718 and 21818, and then there are 2 branches - 21981 and 22593 - that rejoin at 22590. So our mute Astra has been wearing the dress for an unknown length of time. In the near future, Belboz would have changed it into the magical squeezing armour, under the pretence of dressing her correctly for the dragon hunt. She's already under the spell of silence, of course.

The those besides her and Belboz are not aware of that, of course. How things play out next remains to be seen. However, despite his sincere seeming, he's managed to put some of the elves on edge! The Fey Elves (both Light and Dark) have an innate ability to detect falsehoods, but that ability is somehow blocked by the nature of the telepathic rampart between Belboz and the muted Astra!

"Necromancer, we shall take that under advisement," I snap cattily (but still with a bit of elfish pique at having been discounted to add zest).

I cannot help it! Necromancy and Light Elves (even those in what some might call a "proto" state as myself and my love)…..

Light elves surround themselves with light, life, and love. Necromancy is almost the anti-thesis of my being!

…..

Sigh, I so do wish sometimes that I wouldn’t do that. After all, despite having become great friends with our feminized Belbozes back on Terra Prime (Belinda and Phylicia).

Well, insult to injury this world's Belboz (or whatever his parents named him upon birth) had been addressing Jarlath and the rest of the humans, and hadn’t even spared us a second glance.

More the pity, him, if we had been full blooded members of our new races. Neither Light nor Dark Elves take well to being discounted….

As it is, our bodies and minds (despite distinguishing racial marks) are still close enough to our more ordinary (if such a term can be used in relation to such a fantastic race) Terra Prime counterparts.

Yes, what is a Fey elf but an elf with a bit "extra" thrown in? Magical abilities and such that could rival skilled human mages with years of experience, yes. Strange weaknesses to balance it out and give the poor "mortals" a chance (imposed, I assume, due to Inter-Office politics for their various Champions). That and as Fertal put it in his rather abrupt induction into his new race with him telling how everything "rushed in" on him at the end, with the final shift from human to elf in mind, body and soul. It had been more rushed and abrupt than my transformation (the shift that unlocked the racial memory that the Fey have, making and cushioning one's mind as it turns wholly elfin in order to make the shift always free from the threat of Matrix shattered induced insanity due to NOT being able to adjust). Point in fact, the reason why I was so comfortable with becoming an elfin woman was in large part due to that…..

Hrmph, go side tracked there.

The point being that our "proto" state means the racial memories aren't so imposing that we Fey elves don't "fly off the handle" at such insult (small though it might seem to human beings)!

Anyway, that said, I smile an almost catty smile as his expressions shift from annoyance at my tone to a bit of….surprise at some of my groups "special" nature. "Yes, we do make a rather unexpected sight," Fertal, my elfin brother (what a wondrous thing to be able to say about Light Elf tradition would state was a racial enemy), quips.

  1. He continues: "But be that as it may, all of us are rather more experienced with 'dragon slaying' business, mage."
