Of course it's a racial trait! Belboz mused gleefully. I've
devoured my fair share of gliders over the years, and they've all tasted
so sweet! Though they are hardly filling... "The risk will be
minimal," Belboz concluded, turning his attention back to the
others. "Frederigo is tough, he might even find renewed energy." The DragonMage was having a hard time concealing his excitement. He had never conducted an experiment quite like this before, and it was sure to be intriguing. "My methods may seem unorthodox to you," he continued, rising from the table and gathering up equipment from various corners of the lab. "But I have some experience in this, as I have stated." Within moments he had rigged up a contraption which resembled a makeshift I.V., a long tube connected to Fred's left arm from the sack of blood above. "We will begin with Astra's blood," Belboz explained. "It will be a lesser shock to his system, I think. Though even using Astra's blood runs risks of it's own. Blood transfusions are never certain."Astra was somewhat perplexed."Couldn't you just do this magically?" "Yes, but in this case it would be riskier," the old mage replied, as if he was explaining some simple theory to a wide-eyed child. "Infusing a specimen in his state with magical energy would only further the risks of system shock." Specimen, Astra thought ruefully. That's all he is to you! That's all anyone is to you!Watch it, Princess. Don't get haughty with ME.
