What Works on Mummies?

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 26567

"Um," squeaks Betty. "Maybe that wasn't the right door!" She attempts to swing it shut again, but Boris Karloff and his two best buddies are already lurching towards us. Well, the word "lurching" doesn't really do it justice, because that sort of implies something slow. These guys lurch fast. One of them flings out a hand to block the door, casually punching a fist-sized hole in it in the process. Oh, great. Just great.

Betty jumps backwards and raises her phaser, but before she can fire, Boris has already grabbed Zhaan, his hands around her throat. She grabs at his fingers and kicks at his legs, but apparently mummies are much stronger than Delvians, because this seems not to inconvenience him at all. Worse still, it means none of us can get a clear shot at him without hitting Zhaan.

Godzilla charges past him with a much scarier roar than the one he does when you step on his foot, manages to get around behind him, and brings his sword down hard. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to inconvenience Boris much, either, and one of Boris' friends takes the opportunity to clock the lizard on the head, sending him sprawling on the floor.

I don't have a hope of hitting Boris' Friend #1, either, since he's now right behind Boris, so I take aim at Friend #2, who looks like he's thinking about coming over to help stomp on 'Zilla. Winona's blast catches him on the arm, and the air is suddenly filled with the smell of singed bandages and the sound of a really pissed off mummy. OK, not quite the result I was hoping for.

I glance over at Zhaan. She's still struggling against Boris, but her movements have become slow and feeble. No doubt she'd be turning blue if it wasn't her natural color already.

Behind me, Betty is muttering in a distraught tone of voice that really isn't helping to boost my confidence levels any. "Spell... There's gotta be a spell... Dammit, what works on mummies?"

Suddenly, there's a bright light shining from behind me. Oh, Jesus, what now? I whirl around to see... Stark? He's pulled off the metal mask that hides half his face to reveal the rather interesting fact that he only seems to have half a face. The part that had been covered by the mask seems to consist of nothing but streaming golden light. It makes him kinda hard to look at, but from what I can see of the actual face part of his face, he looks really pissed off.

  1. I'm not sure what this guy's deal is, but suddenly I think I feel kind of sorry for the mummies...
