Twisty little passages

Fortunately several of the rocks on the floor were able to make marks on the wall. The group used these rocks to mark their way through the maze.
Astra mentioned that the passages did all look different but Fred replied that, while this was true, it would be extraordinarily difficult to keep track of each twist and turn anyway. Easier then if, for some reason, all the passages were identical but still difficult.
The group ventures on, making marks.
Fred, however, made scuffs in the ground to correlate with the marks. The two ladies noticed but said nothing as Fred was not speaking about it.
Ten minutes passed. They were making good progress through the maze.

  1. They see the exit.
  2. They see the exit but a thick carpet of foot high spikes blocks their way.
  3. They find that one of the secret marks is there but the rock-mark on the wall is gone.
  4. They spot a creature eliminating both marks. Scuff and wall. It vanishes around two corners, insanely fast.
