Enter Prince Cederik

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 26307

"Ah, at last," breathes a very undeveloped character by the name of Ced (e?)rik. "You'd think after they name a storyline with 80 plus episodes after you, you'd get your share of the spotlight!"

"Prince Cederik!?" Fred reels, rubbing his untrustworthy eyes to make sure he's not seeing things again. "But you were thought to have choked on a chicken bone and - "

" - died the eve before my coronation," the handsome young nobleman drawls sarcastically. "Yes, that's the load of hogwash that you miserable peasants bought, even you d'Honaires. Fresh from the fiefdom and given a Great Duchy of your own, I guess it would be expected you'd unquestioningly follow that cock-eyed twit Emry to wherever he led you. Don't get me wrong, you d'Honaires have always been excellent pawns, and that is how my coniving brother used you. Even you, Fred, 'granted' the mantle of dragonslayer, HA! Yes, even if you couldn't see me I could see you. You wonderful, ignorant fool."

The prince's words are frought with bitterness and suppressed rage, and Fred isn't sure how to take all of this. Perhaps this isn't Cederik at all, but a doppleganger. It seems quite plausable. Well, there's only one way to find out. Fred isn't a big fan of magic, but common devilry has it's uses. One of the spells taught to would-be dragonslayers during their basic training is an incantation that reveals illusions camouflaged in reality. Fred begins to recite the words etched into his memory.

"Oh shut up, you paranoid freak," Cederik scowls, slapping Fred across his left cheek. "Even if I'm only the ship's doctor in this far-fetched thread, I'll still make your life a living hell. I can assure you I am very real. I can help you keep your guise as a pirate going, or I can reveal you to Captain Lots. It all depends on your cooperation."

"What do you want me to do?"

  1. "DANCE!" roars Cederik, licking his lips. "Dance for me until you can dance no more!"
  2. "Sneak into Captain Lot's chambers and murder the wrech. It is I who should be captain, not he!"
