Within the Highest Chamber of the Highest Tower

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 25941

"What is this @#*!, instant decaf!?" Castellan spat, showering the pitful figure that cowered at his feet with the aforementioned @#*!. "You've befouled my evening coffee for the last time," he continued, his voice taking on an ominous tone. "Do you know what happens to people that fail in their duties to me?"

The figure looked up suddenly, his pale face contorted with horror. "No, Highlord! I beg of you, spare me!"

"Sorry, son," the Dark Heretic scoffed, his seemingly youthful voice sounding almost soothing now. "Don't worry, you have plenty of brothers who will take your place. I banish you to Death and the Realm of Chaos."

In a place as permeated with magical influences as Vjorica, and within the Tower of Sorcery especially, all Castellan had to do was utter these words in order for his will to be. The sorcerer's son became shrouded in the tentacles of a sentient shadow. Like a scene from Indiana Jones, his living flesh began to rot and melt away as he aged 100 years within a matter of seconds. His matted, web-like hair and curling, blackened fingernails grew uncontrollably. He could feel his insides weakening, his heart slowing. As the man's lifeforce was drained, Castellan's already young and handsome appearance seemed to grow stronger. Foolishly, the man let out one last, grotesque plea for his life. Castellan gestured and the shadow passed. The man's aging ceased, just as he had reached the brink of death. "Be careful what you ask for," the now horribly deformed man's father chuckled evily, "or you just might get it. My, but I do like this look on you."

The half-dead monster crawled on it's belly, toward a window that overlooked the turmultuous city. Entrails and bits of flesh were torn away from it's mangled body as it struggled onward, hoping only to reach the window so as to throw itself to the ground, far, far below...ending it's horrible existence. Castellan laughed good-naturedly, giving a running kick into the monster's ribs, shattering them. He then grabbed the monster by the neck, stretching it unnaturaly. Lifting his son's body into the air as if it were a feather, he then took him over to a single door that led into this highest chamber within the highest tower in Vjorica. He threw him into a shadowy corridor. "Now go re-make my coffee," Castellan hissed, shutting the door to his chamber. In all honesty, it had been the best coffee he had ever had in all his long years. But he could sense that one of his valued minions had departed to the Chaos Realm, and this was disturbing. He paced about uneasily, his mind clouded with troubles.

Coming to a marble pedestal in the center of the room, he gently lifted a silk cloth imbued with runes, revealing a jet-black orb. It was perhaps his most prized possession, a relic of the Great Empire of Tetrilonia, now thousands of years extinct; a palantiri seeing-stone, a parting gift from Horkus the Wicked given to Castellan before the "Big H's" death. It was a rare occassion when he was forced to use it, but tonight was one of those occassions...

  1. He began to focus his energies on the stone's polished surface, but then stopped short. He walked over to the east-wall of his chamber instead...
