Catastrophe

"Oh no!" Thelonius gasped. "We're screwed! It's early contract day!"

Then they heard Blue 5's Fightech clamber to a standing position. Something was wrong with the former Cultbot. "Nothing will stand in the way of the Brotherhood of Blood!" he said in a far different voice. "All that stands in our way must be... eliminated!!!"

With fast leaps from command panel to command panel, he soon reached the rebel behemoth. Then he activated his jetpack and throttled up to it's face, whereupon he scythed it right in the eyesockets with his vibroblades. The monster roared "Fzzbrzzt... kill!" and tried to grab at him, but he was already descending too fast, slashing the thing right down the middle.

For once, Davis knew exactly what was going to happen. Thinking fast, he shot all of his missiles into the ceiling at once, blowing open a hole the size of Jersey City. "Hurry!" he yelled. "This place is gonna blow!!"

Without further explanation, he throttled up toward the impromptu exit, Thelonius and Slash following suit. "But what about Blue?!" Slash yelled.

Blue 5 had slashed the behemoth right down the middle by then, and his blades had reached the thing's gigapsychonuclear plant networking. "Nothing will stand in our way!"

"Brrzp... destroy..." the behemoth roared.

And in the next Davis, Thelonius and Slash were flying up just millimeters above a massive psychonuclear explosion. Below, the city of Alessora was reduced to a pile of gray rubble, although they couldn't see it because of the dust and ash in the air.

1. A minute later they had reached a safe height, and could see a mushroom cloud below blanketing an area the size of a small country.
