"Well, we certainly seem to be better equipped for killing than for
anything
else," Astra replied, swishing her tail. "But, hard though it
is to be calm, we must try to think this through. It's too important to act
impulsively. It seems to me that, though killing them might make us feel
better, it won't undo this. Instead it would probably remove what little
hope
we've got of getting it undone. Besides, whoever is responsible for this
must have been confident that we couldn't harm them. It's always possible
that their confidence was misplaced, of course."
"You're right in what you say," Fred reluctantly conceded. "So you seem to be implying that we should wait here for whoever is behind this to show up, and then beg them to reverse it. But judging by the ruins that we've seen, perhaps we are the victims of some ancient magic that has lingered on long after its creators have died? The only other possibility I can think of is to seek out Dr Vincent. His magic might be able to undo this. But he could be hundreds of miles away for all we know, and we have no idea of how to find him. And it would be very dangerous. Anyone that we might encounter during our search for him would most likely try to kill us on sight."
