A chill went down Fred's spine as he folded the document and placed it in
his
coat pocket. He felt as if he was being watched, as if there was another
presence in the room, standing over his shoulder. Again the lifelike
portrait of Reaibn caught his eye. He shuddered. Going over to the
portrait, he attempted to yank it off the wall. It simply wouldn't budge.
A little troubling, to be sure. Ignoring the creepy painting, Fred decided to investigate the dusty bookshelf next. It contained a wide variety of books, all containing eccentric titles Fred had never heard of. Upon closer examination of the books, Fred realized they were full of gibberish and nonsenical rantings. This place was hopeless. "Sir Freddy Freddy Freddy," a voice said from above. "Sir Freddy go to beddy!"Lord Fred nearly stumbled over his own two feet as he reeled around to confront the invisible speaker, shouting: "Who said that!? Who's there!?" "Is Sir Freddy ready for his teddy?" the voice continued taunting."Show yourself, coward!" Fred challenged. "Go to bed, Fred! You need to sleep! I'll have the Lady of Billings Keep make you waffles with maple syrup in the morning! How does that sound? And after that we can wash our undergarments! We all know about your skid-marks!""Reaibn!" Fred snarled. "You are a madman! Release me this instant!" "Don't be difficult!"The light in the room went out, as if on cue. Fred was too tired to argue the madman/sorcerer, anyway. He fell into a fitfull sleep.
