Another day dawned in Coalspot, or at least it sure tried to. Benchley
took in a deep breath of the polluted air, relishing in the sweet smell
of toxic fumes and gases that wandered up to meet his nostrils. The
morning sun rose over the hazy brown horizon and was swallowed up by the
haze just as quickly, exactly as Benchley liked it. He looked over his to-
do list for the 'day'...
1.Pollute the springs 2.Choke the rivers 3.Burn the forests
It seemed he had a remarkably free day ahead of him! Besides his daily 'chores', there was no other item of business! Now the question that plagued him was what to do with all the free time? Perhaps he should take advantage of his flexible schedule and bribe a few lesser officials? Nah, he gave them enough of his...er, the city's money anyway! Perhaps he could check in on one of the many brothels he frequented? Or maybe not. Best to keep the polished image he tried to maintain and keep those public shows of immorality to a minimum. Hmmm...
Meanwhile, in another corner of the sprawl of turbines, towers, and condominiums, a certain avaricious ambassador from Allaria was choking on the very air he breathed. It was no wonder he was given hazard pay just to live in this cesspool! His one condulence was the fact that money flowed through this city like diarrhea flowed through the intestines of tourists in Hespan! And by that I mean fast, smooth, and explosive! Uncle Zular had appointed him to this remote post because he hated him - but not enough to want him dead or disgraced. He hated every family member! At least Zular had spared his life, that's how Sir Arthur Mollari looked at it! He had an important meeting with the SouthMount ambassador today. There was an urgent matter to be resolved concerning the fermentation of goat's milk. That's right, the fermentation of goat's milk. It was a very hot and sensitive geo-political issue in it's day, effecting nearly every country in Havnheim.
