Enter: the Wizard of Kamiro

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 24712

Fred fell and he fell hard.

Twelve days later...

"Come, Human, it is time," said the DarkElf at the door. She gestured with her fingers, motioning the man on the bed to rise and follow. He did so with a grace and ease. He was not dressed, he was nude, but soon that would change. This day, everything would change.

While the Human followed the DarkElf another group of followers were busy in another Hall of the Great Caves. They were a mixture of smaller Races; Pug-Elves, Gnomes, Kobolds, Demi-Orcs, Shortlings, even a few of the Faeirie ilk (though these were by far the minority). They were putting the final touches on the Smithy, the place where the Turning would proceed. There were benches and chairs and pools for certain 'guests'; there were tables with implements of bronze, iron, and gold; there were hearths blazing on the sidelines; but in the center of it all, in the place where all eyes would be stood the dais and the magnificent mold which would do a most wondrous thing in only a matter of hours...

Velus couldn't believe his ears, nor his nose, nor his fingers... they were human!

"Now dontcha be going where you'll get all messed up and transmortified and all," said the man next to him. "It's not easy unhexing the power of a wyrm, ya'know."

"Ohmygoddess!" squeeled Velus with joy. "Dontyoufear nothingisgonna makeme comeneartothis horridmountain everevereveragain!"

"Good!" said the man, and he smiled. Then he puffed on his pipe and let out a beautiful smoke ring. "You get back to your Vale, say hello to Unger the GreenThumb if you ever see him."

"Yes sire, uh, meaning Your Mage-ship, um--"

"Just call me Garth, only Garth... got it?"

"Yes sire Garth!" said Velus and he did a little jig. "I can't believe that I was even able to find my way out of those Caves and just happened to bump into the Wizard of Kamiro!"

"Garth, I said, little one," said the Wizard and he pinched Velus' ear. Even as the boy was rubbing, the Wizard continued. "Besides, things don't just happen. Didn't your father teach you about Wyrde? or your mother about Fate? Life happens for a Reason, and each life is one more Reason that adds to the Fullness of All that Is."

The boy gave a look to the Wizard which told him that the country-bumpkin had no clue as to all he was talking about. "Don't worry, Vela. You go home and forget you ever saw the inside of these horrible Caves."

"It's Velus, Master Garth," said Velus and then he up and ran down the slope towards the Road. He knew that not far from the green rock with the yellow pansies would be the mining village of Mudspot, and from there it would be only a matter of a day or so to home. Velus was a happy camper to say the least. The Wizard on the other hand...

"Ignorance is bliss says the Sage," he murmured. He had come to this area of the mountains because of a divination, something was happening and that something wasn't good. ~~so I freed a village boy, hooray for me! ~~ he chuckled dryly. ~~but I am no closer to finding what evil thorn is ready to burst forth from this ugly place, at least not yet~~ And so the Wizard of Kamiro entered into the Caves, using the right entrance, with only his bag of tricks, a mind full of knowledge, and a lunchbag. Of course what the Wizard didn't know was that the info given him by Velus, info about a knight and a fight and an arena of endless gore (yes, Velus can be poetic when in a pinch), would actually come to serve him.

  1. But wait, there's more!
