"Very well," Astra said. "I'll tell you my story - or at least that part
of it that you don't already know. It all started because I was bored.
Well, bored and slightly drunk. A couple of friends and I had had a merry
evening. When I said that it was about time that someone put a stop to the
dragon's raids, Sarah responded: 'Well, why don't you do it then?'"
At that point Astra burped loudly. "Pardon me," she said. "Perhaps I shouldn't have had fourths, but it was very good. Now, where was I? Oh yes, Sarah had challenged me to do something about the dragon. So I said: 'All right. I will.' Next morning, I slipped away at dawn, leaving a note for my mother. I knew that she'd be furious, and might send troops after me to find me and bring me back, but I was confident that I could throw them off the scent. So I made my way by little-used paths through wild country, and after almost two weeks travelling I crossed the border into Allaria. Soon afterwards, I arrived at the twin entrances to the Northern Caves, and took the left-hand one."
