The Shredder of Barquax

Fred points out that (in this storyline at least) he too is not dead, but to no avail; Josh has already taken from his knapsack a small metal device. It has an intricate yet robust jewelled handle and a host of small but incredibly sharp-looking teeth.

Fred gasps. "The fabled Shredder of Barquax! I had thought it to be merely a myth!"

"'Tis no myth, Lord Fred!" Josh replies.

As Josh happily shreds the story of Roanna out of existence, Fred just stands and stares, in awe of the fabled scroll-destroyer. "But how did you come to be the possessor of such a legendary device?"

1. "It's an interesting story . . ." Josh begins
2. "It's really rather a dull story," Josh begins "but I'll tell it anyway . . ."
3. Josh's story is interrupted by the entrance of a bespectacled man brandishing a fearsome-looking letter-opener
