The Never Ending Quest - Episode 2374

While one group of elven messengers was making good time finding the ruler of Fred's kingdom, the other pair was having miserable luck. They had finally reached the northern borders of Aqualaria and discovered that Alicia did not hail from there!

"Stupid Humans!" griped one elf. "How in sidhell are we supposed t' finde th' woman-Custodian's home if'n alle th' kingdoms be named wi' th' letter 'A'?!!?"

"Ye got that right!" grumbled the other elf. "Looke at this stupid map: Allaria, Aqualaria, Aritaine, Aethiopia and th' list goes on!"

So the elves, in their anger and fear at returning home without having accomplished their mission, picked a new destination-- the Caliphate of Abbasid --and began their trek to the far western reaches of the Continent.

Meanwhile, the other two were crossing a ford when they sighted a motte-&- bailey. This castle stood high upon a mound of earth and its spiring towers reached far into the heavens.

"Surely this must be th' King's abode," said one elf.

"Aye, surely indeed," agreed the other.

As they reached the walls of the fortified castle the moonlight became obscured by drifting clouds and due to that they did not see the simple sign outside the wooden walls that said: THIS IS THE MANOR MOLLARI, SEAT OF THE DUCHY OF TRESCENT. FRIENDS WELCOME, ENEMIES BEWARE. While the elves scaled the walls (an easy feat for woodland creatures) a sleeping Duke Zular was dreaming of Vichenzian poisons and Allarian crowns.

  1. Unbeknownst to either group of traveling elves, within Malboncton ( a nation not on their map) an insidious group of Black Marketeers were violently expunged from their stronghold and forced to flee. Only the future would tell the implications.
