The Never Ending Quest - Episode 23344

Fred still isn't sure if he can trust the gaunt tree-hugger, he has heard many tales of this Race, very few of them favorable. "If I follow, how do I know you just won't turn on me, enfold me into some unseelie trap, or worse.... eat me for dinner?"

The elf stopped dead in his tracks. Then he started laughing! "By all the woodland spirits who sold you that load of horse-hockey?!? You talk as if I'm a faerie, you dimwitted buffoon!"

Fred's face reddened with anger, but he kept his cool, eyeing the elf with ire and distrust. "That's because you are!"

Again the elf laughed. "Kin I may be, but only a distaff cousin thrice removed! You mrithlas have some odd mistruths. I shan't hurt you, now come on!" With that he lept forward into the wood.

Fred heard the oncoming sound of the malevolent mages and knew his choices were few. To follow the elf could mean death, disaster, or worse... or it could mean safety. To strike out on his own would bring definite threat, not only from the mages, but from the creatures of the night, perhaps even from an enraged elfkinde. But Fred recalled that a little further west of Vjorica was the mountain city of Goldstadt, part of the lands of the Bavar nestled in the Carpath Mountains. If he could reach that, he might just survive the night alive.

  1. Fred follows the elf into the night, going ever deeper into the fog-filled woods...
  2. Fred turns from the elf and strikes out midway betwen the person of the elf and the noise of the mages...
