Thessamar Strikes

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 2331

Fred and Thessamar Astra stood cautiously, weapons at the ready. The giant crocodile neared the muddy edge where the two heros were and, without any provocation, lept up at them! They defended themselves as best they could; Fred with his sword and Thessamar with the bone, but the beast took it as if it were nothing at all. Jaws snapped ferociously as the duo backed away from the watery mud, sword flashed and tooth bit, bone jabbed and tail flailed. Thessamar jumped high into the air to avoid the maddening tail, yet Fred was not so lucky. He was hit broadside and was smashed into the tunnel wall! His sword flew from his hand and it was Thessamar who retreived it. She deftly avoided the tail another and another time, then she raised the tempered metal blade and thrust downward at the beast.

"RAAaaaarrgh!" cried out the creature. Then a different sound, a new voice yelled from out of the darkness: "WHOAH NELLIE! Watch where you're shoving that thing!"

The beast whimpered in its reptilian way yet attacked no further, Fred was trying to pick himself up from the ground, and Thessamar was attempting to find the source of the mysterious voice.

She finally saw a new form emerge from the fog, a man it was dressed in orange chainmail covered in a sea-green cloak. He had regal features, a strong jaw and large nose, a golden mustache and beard covered his face, and short-cut blond hair covered his head. He held out his arms as if in peace and Thessamar noticed that only one arm ended in a hand, the other sported a nasty-looking hook, the kind a sea-captain would use to harpoon a whale.

"Well, well," began the stranger. "You two are stronger than I had thought. C'mon Vector...come here little guy." The stranger was speaking to the crocodile who appeared to understand the sea-warrior's words. Slowly, methodically, the croc inched it's way away from Thessamar and toward the stranger.

"Who are you?" asked Thessamar. "If this is yours, why did you attack us?"

"When you traverse the underground routes of sea-monsters," began the stranger. "It is always wise to attack first and ask questions later. My name is Arthur, and I'm sorry for having Vector hit you that way. I wasn't sure if you were Wyrm-spies or even Krakon-slaves. One can never be too cautious in evil places such as this."
