Gracht Tuebklle Feeds

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 23305

Velus had retreated behind a boulder as the ooze took Fred. He crouched and whimpered as Fred's dying screams echoed within his ears. Then, silence. Cautiously, he crept back out. Fred looked fine, he was poking at the dirt wall. He grunted, "We can't get through here, Velus, we'll have to go another way." He turned and left.

Velus was confused. What happened to the black ooze? It seemed Fred was dying in agony only a moment before, and now he seemed fine. Somewhat warily, he went after Fred. He tried to convince himself, I'm sure he's fine . . .

Gracht Tuebklle was pleased with it's new host. This human creature's mind was rich with the sweet intelligence that Gracht Tuebklle craved. Much better than the stupid orc creatures that it had fed on thus far. It loved this. It wanted more, and it knew where to get it. Never before had it thought to venture out of the caves, until now. It knew now, cities of humans lay out there. Food. Gracht Tuebklle was hungry. It knew that this dog-creature, Velus, was a human with an altered shape. Velus would make a worthy snack. . .

Velus suddenly halted and sniffed the air. Something smelled pungent. Orcs! he thought, A whole bunch of them! That's just wonderful. Quickly, he dashed down a different passageway, hoping Fred would follow. Eventually, he slowed. He realized Fred did not follow as he expected. Suddenly, inhuman cries echoed throughout the cavern and startled Velus. It sounded like orcs, perhaps Fred stayed behind to fight? He turned and ran back.

When he gained sight of Fred and the orcs again, he skidded to a halt. Many orcs lay scattered around, dead with no visible wounds. Fred lay kneeling over the only living orc. His hand was wrapped around the top of the orc's head, black ooze seemed to come from his fingertips. "Gracht Tuebklle . . ." the orc moaned, then died.

Fred got up and turned to Velus, a bizzare, hungry look on his face. Velus noticed many orc arrows peirced his armour. No blood dripped from his wounds, only more black goo. Nearly paralyzed with fear, Velus turned back down the passageway and ran as fast as his doggy feet could take him.

  1. Moonlight greeted Velus as he dashed out of the caves and into the night.
  2. In his panic, Velus finds himself in an unfamiliar part of the caves. He dares not backtrack, for Fred may be pursuing him.
