"He didn't want us for our own sake," says Lyra. "You see, the wizard-
-Zerm the Second--had created a mind-switching spell, which the
Dragon hopes to use for his own purposes. But first, he wants proof
that the spell works. I was captured during a battle with the Dragon's
Orc troops, which have been invading our kingdom, and taken to
Zerm to experiment on as punishment for opposing the Dragon. He
hopes to use this spell to switch his own mind with that of King Emry
of Allaria and thus take over the known world."
"Well.. that makes sense. But how do you know all this? And I notice you speak with your own voice. Wouldn't that be a bit of an obstacle to the Dragon's plans?" "Zerm was a bit full of himself, to be honest. He said that he would restore me to my body, but only if I became his consort. I think he expected me to be so impressed with his plan that I would agree to this. And the Dragon is an expert at mimicry. He could easily make his voice sound exactly like King Emry's." Suddenly, she looks in the distance and sniffs. "Orcs." As you look in the direction she is facing, you see that there is indeed a fairly large, heavily armed squadron of Orcs coming your way at an impossibly quick speed. You also smell them. You can only imagine how much more unbearable it must be for Lyra, with her enhanced canine sense of smell.. Your heart starts to thump in your chest. Lord Fred would have been able to handle these Orcs in no time. So could Sir Toby, Sir Josh, and even Sir Paulito. But they're all dead. You are nowhere near their equal. What do you do now, good sir knight?
