Reality isn't what we made of it

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 23069

Reality faded away to be replaced by a large, wooden bridge. Solid, well constructed, with metal sides. Ten feet wide, fifty feet long. Looking over the edge revealed clouds two hundred feet below. And more bridges. And hundred foot wide stone columns decorated with twenty foot high arcane symbols...multiple colors in horrifying symbols. Broad stokes suggested, in simplified forms, death to children, old men and nuns. And that was just one symbol.
Some clothes were set on the bridge. Generic brown and grey pants and shirts and shoes.
The wind whistled through the open doors in the columns...
Fred picked up the last shoe and found a red piece of paper.
Astra picked it up. Then she crumpled it and flung it over the side.
It burst into flame twenty feet down.
"What was that about?" Fred said.
"That paper contained the symbol of Dethelos. The God Of Agony in the mythos of my homeworld. He was more then just pain. He was mental torture. And this place...this place is what mental patients liked to draw. We thought it was just a manifestation of misfiring mental thoughts. With the gap below representing all that the ill doesn't have."
"Well, with that I suggest getting under cover. This bridge ends in two columns. You know more about this place. Any suggestion?"

  1. "No. Let's go left."
  2. "Yes. The one on the right has indications of Dethelos' worst enemy, the God Of Love. Or maybe it's my imagination. But I'm going." Fred follows.
