It was a difficult choice for Lord Fred to have to make. Why can't we
do
both? he wondered. But then he remembered that boozing first and
whoring afterwards rarely seemed to work out very well. "Let's go whoring
first and boozing afterwards," he suggested. (In contrast to Fogeno, Fred
could not have dropped a final "g" if his life had depended on it.)
Fogeno clapped Fred on the back with such force that he nearly knocked hin off his feet. "Capital idea, Bunny! You'll be payin' for both of us, of course." "I will?" "Look on it as part of your fare for the voyage, lad. You don't expect me to pay, surely? Have I ever told you just what a miserable pittance a Hespan seacaptain is paid?" Frequently, and at great length, Fred thought, but he had enough sense not to say so out loud. "Ah, here's a suitable establishment," Fogeno said, pointing to a large house with a red light showing in the window. He guided Fred inside.
