The Search for Checkers

As Fred and Astra search for Checkers, they discuss what could have become
of Belboz's body. He was a necromancer, after all, so cannot necessarily
be relied on to remain dead. Astra believes that all his magic power was
transferred to her before his death as a result of Checkers' recitation,
in which case they have no need to fear the impotent husk that would have
been all that remained. However she does not understand what happened well
enough to be absolutely certain of this, and Fred suggests that if Belboz
retains sufficient power to come back to life (as his missing body
suggests) then he can hardly be as impotent as all that.
Astra's barrel roll has restored her body to its natural form, which means that she no longer carries those thirty excess pounds. She is still naked however. She believes that she now must have the power to cast a spell to correct that, but unfortunately she lacks the knowledge to do so. She also does not know how to return herself to dragon form, though again she is sure that she is capable of it. That's a pity, she thinks. If we run into anything nasty, it would have been very useful. There aren't many things that you need fear when you're a dragon. And I know how to turn myself back now.
