Confused, the people Fred faced crossed their arms and bent their knees. They chattered to themselves, two keeping an eye (or in one case, four) on Fred.
Fred lit a cigar from a watersafe pack. "Look, what's going on?"

  1. One of the group fetches the translator, who had learned Fred's language from a hermit.
  2. "Look, what's going on?" in the creature's language means 'The king has a bad knee and several warts on his spine'. Such knowledge frightens the group.
  3. "Look, what's going on?" means, to the others, 'In moments, I will kill you!'.
