Ignoring Gilder's question for the moment, Fred concentrated on trying to
find an answer for Astra that would calm her down. Not realising that she
had misheard him, he assumed that it was the word "horror" that she had
objected to. "I'm sorry," he stammered. "It was a slip of the tongue. I
didn't mean to call you a horror."
The scowl left Astra's face and she withdrew her dagger from Fred's throat. "Ah, I see," she said. "I thought you said something else. 'A disease-ridden horror' isn't exactly complimentary, but I've been called worse." "You seem to allow your slave a remarkable amount of leeway, Allarian," Gilder said, as Fred tried to regain his composure. "She not only carries a weapon, but you let her threaten you with it. And you dress her remarkably well, too. But I'm sure I can persuade her to show me a proper respect once I am her owner. Now, what is your price for her?"
