Monster and Maid or Clock and Coatstand?

"I'm saving the maid from the monster," he said. Then he blinked. Where the monster had been a moment before now stood a grandfather clock, with many gashes in its wood from his sword. Where the maid had been was a coatstand with a single coat hanging on it. "But they were there," he said in bewilderment. He looked around him. All now seemed normal in the lobby, with no sign of the devastation that he had seen.

"Looks like you're still having hallucinations, Fred," Astra said sympathetically. "I heard the commotion that you made, and came to investigate. Go back to bed, and try and get some sleep. Hopefully with more rest you'll soon get right again."

1. Fred lets Astra take him back to his room.
2. "No!" Fred says stubbornly. "I know that what I saw was real. It wasn't a hallucination. There must be great magic at work here."
