"Fred!" calls the vixen from down the path. Fred turns and sees Alicia come running up next to him and stops. "I'd....really like to come along if I could."
Fred's ears cock up in curiosity.
"I happen to know the person you are talking about," Alicia explains as her tail swishes about. "I met her years ago when I was on a mission from my homeland to regain a holy Artifact. She helped me when I was in a tight situation, and I'd....like to repay her for the favor."
"Well," Fred smiles, tail wagging as he weighed Alicia's words and found them pleasing. It always warmed his heart to see that others were out to do the honorable thing. "I don't see why you can't, just as long as you can handle yourself in a rough situation. Considering that we may be confused with were-creatures....."
"....or overgrown Kitsune. we may need to defend ourselves." Alicia smiles a foxy smile.
Fred blushes at the thought of being confused with one of those recent immigrants from the Nipponese islands. Those clever and mischivious fox spirits were on par with the Fair Folk in their sense of humor. If one happened to want....companionship, a traveler could find himself cursed with all sorts of annoying things if he (or she) refused. The clergy may frown upon such "encounters" but they weren't the ones getting zapped! If a traveller got it in his head that Alicia was looking for an "encounter"....he may get more than a little insulted if Alicia refused (some folk out their weren't the brightest of folk).
With that, the humanoid foxes run down to the beach, and then Alicia hesitates.....
"This island has been my home....for five years," Alicia explains as Fred looks at her funny. "Nobody from the Pack really want to leave, since we know no humans could understand us....and may fear us. Since this island is reputed to be cursed, the sailors stay away. Well, nothing's being done by standing around."
Get a hold of yourself and DO it! chides a small voice inside Alicia's mind. You're a princess from the Kingdom of Ethiopia! What would Daddy, King Natthias, say!!
Alicia and Fred hit the water at a run, and swim easily despite the fact their feet are now more akin to those of a cannine than a regular human feet.....
