The Never Ending Quest - Episode 2149

She knew something, but she wasn't about to tell Lord Fred; and why should she?!!? Thessamar had known the man less than a day, and though he had saved her life that did not give him the credentials of a 'confidante.'

They left the greyness of the cavern behind and followed a tunnel branching out and upward. Fred did not have an abundance of torches and he did not wish to waste them on fruitless searches. He began to think upon his last words; he knew that the Wyrm must be destroyed, yet he felt that his ignorance was a greater trap for him than the daggers of a hundred dragon-spies. He knew that the scroll given him was of import, yet it's importance eluded him. He needed to bring it back to the Kingdom and speak with his House's advisors. There were many in the Manor D'Honaire who would be able to make more sense of the words than he. As to Thessamar, he wasn't sure if she would be grateful for the reprieve from the dragon's caverns or if she would be furious. He was about to ask her when he noticed a glazed look within her eyes; she was either bespelled or deep in thought.

"...in life one and one don't make two, they make one..."

The words echoed softly within her mind as her feet did the walking for her. She couldn't shake the thought, the sound of her lover's voice, nor the memories it brought up. Thessamar was a vibrant woman, a strong woman, a rough and wild one many had said. Many years past, when she had laid eyes upon the man known simply as John, she knew that she wanted him. At first she thought it was only for the night; she would have her fun and slip out before the morning's dawn. Yet there was something about his presence that kept her coming back to him. After a short time she began to realize that she liked the man and was attracted to his person even as much as to his body. These thoughts dredged up the days leading up to the "break" and the softness of the recollections turned sour within her and she spat upon the ground in anger.

"If you are within these caves oh dearest John, then beware, beware! Let not your tricks trick you into thinking I shall come back to you. If ever that day comes it shall be to gut you from top to bottom!"

Her yells echoed within the chamber and then died down. There was no response and the music within the woman's head died as well. There was, however, far from the three strange bedfellows a slithering of reptilian belly and an awakening of saurian iris. Far from both the threesome and the monster was the chortling of a smallish creature that was taking more pleasure in the trickery of this day than it had in all the past year.

  1. He asks Thessamar to go with him back to the Kingdom and waits for her response.
  2. A droplet of moisture hits Fred upon the cheek, and looking up the passage he sees....
