Swords into Plowshares, and Spears ....

Fred slices open one of the wallhugger's legs, only to find that wallhugger bones are very brittle when exposed to air. Fred tries to use a pair for supporting his injured foot and the bones snap as easily as dried twigs.

"I could use my sword, if it were only about seventy centimeters longer," observed Fred. "It would give me enough leverage where I would not have to put the weight on that foot."

Beatrice looks at her spear. She removes the iron tip and places it in her pouch and hands the shaft to Fred. The spear fits right under his arm, and the feathers on the end provide a cushion for Fred's armpit. He is able to move steadily, if not quickly.

The two head toward the light in necromancer's chamber, where they discover

1. that Belboz has left this chamber.
2. that Belboz is casting a spell.
3. that the light has gotten too intense for them to see anything.
